Volunteer Program

Parkland Volunteer & Guest Services:
Opportunities to learn, grow, and serve your community.

You’re the kind of person who always thinks there’s more you can do. You like to help out any way you can, no matter the money or recognition. You’ll find just what you’re looking for as a volunteer at Parkland. Our volunteers are touching people’s lives every day—really making a difference. They’re gaining valuable experience, expanding their skills and meeting new people. And best of all, they’re helping our patients heal faster through kindness, friendship, and better quality care.

Where can I volunteer?
We have hundreds of opportunities in several departments so you’re sure to find something that fits your skill-level and expertise.

  • Chaplaincy
  • Community Outpatient Clinics
  • Emergency Services
  • Gift Shop
  • Geriatrics
  • Intensive Care units
  • Neonatal Nursery
  • Newborn Nursery
  • Outpatient Clinics
  • Pharmacy
  • Radiology

We even have a Handwork program, where you work from the comfort of home sewing and knitting handmade items for patients. Knitted slippers, pressure pillows, quilts, lap robes, infant layettes, stuffed animals and dolls are always needed.

Summer Program
If you’re a student living at home for the summer, we have a special summer program that may be just right for you. Summer volunteers must be at least 14 years old. High school age volunteers may help out Monday thru Friday, 8am to 4pm, while college age and older may volunteer 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Summer Group Orientation begins in June.

To Find out more about becoming a volunteer at Parkland, call our Volunteer Services Department at (214) 590-8827.

“I started at Parkland as a volunteer in the Emergency Department in 1978 . I love my job so much I can honestly say when my alarm goes off in the morning, I can’t wait to get to work!”
